Wetherspoons has applied to install a new boiler flue and upgrade its WiFi at its Harrogate pub.
JD Wetherspoon PLC has submitted listed building consent to North Yorkshire Council to carry out the work at Winter Gardens on Parliament Street.
It would see a new flue run in the service yard at the rear of the property to service new boilers, which the company said would help with the ongoing “servicing and maintenance of the building”.
The proposals would also see the pub chain upgrade its WiFi at the building in order to provide “reliable wireless coverage”.
In a planning statement, the company said:
The primary goal is to deliver reliable wireless coverage throughout the building, ensuring consistent signal strength across guest areas, including the bar, restaurant, and rooms.
It added:
All equipment will be installed discreetly to preserve the building’s aesthetic and historical character. Wall mounts and false ceiling mounts are chosen to blend with the existing environment without visible alterations to historical features.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the proposals at a later date.
