New images have been released for a major expansion of Rudding Park Hotel and Spa in Harrogate.

In September 2023, North Yorkshire Council’s strategic planning committee gave the hotel the green-light to build a golf clubhouse, family activity centre, four tennis courts and a pavilion and restore the walled garden.

The hotel estimates that the move to expand the site will contribute an additional economic impact of £14.3 million a year through employment, suppliers and tourism spend.

It would also create 75 new jobs.

Now, new images of the 60,000 square foot golf and country club have been revealed.

Rudding Park said previously that the current golf clubhouse was originally built as a temporary facility but had outgrown its useful life and “considerably discredits the course”.

The new two-storey building, which has received seven-figure funding from HSBC UK to complete, will include swimming pools, restaurants, a gym and changing rooms.

Nick Mackanass, joint managing director of Rudding Park, said:

This is an exciting new phase of growth for Rudding Park, as we continue to expand and diversify high quality experiences for our guests. HSBC UK support will enable us to complete these development works, making sure our facilities exceed the expectations of our guests old and new. We look forward to expanding the team and attracting guests from all over the UK as our plans take shape.

Rudding Park, which has been owned by the Mackaness family since 1972, has 90 bedrooms and suites, a spa, three restaurants, a kitchen garden, private cinema, two golf courses and conference and events spaces.
