Harrogate Town ex-captain Josh Falkingham is to come out of retirement to help ease the club’s injury crisis.
Simon Weaver’s side had 11 first-team players unavailable for last Saturday's (November 15) game against Notts County.
Their three-man bench in Nottingham included youth team player Marcus Etherington and goalkeeper Mark Oxley.
Former captain Falkingham made 304 appearances for Town from 2017 to 2025, before moving into a coaching role at the end of last season.
But the club’s legendary leader has registered on a non-contract basis to help the team through its predicament.
He said:
Everybody knows how much the club means to me, so when asked it was always going to be a yes.
I’m feeling fit and mentally ready for the challenge, I wouldn’t have agreed to it if I didn’t feel I could add value. My mindset is always to do anything I possibly can to help the club so I’m going to give absolutely everything I can to help.
Falkingham will wear the number 44 shirt, and will be available for selection against Walsall tomorrow (November 22), subject to FA and EFL approval.
The match kicks off at 12.30pm on Wetherby Road.
