A group of Killinghall girls have urged drivers to slow down after finding several hedgehogs dead on a road in the village.
Ten-year-old Chloe Fabron today (May 11) said she has in recent days found “seven squashed hedgehogs” along the B6161 Otley Road.
Upset by the discovery, Chloe enlisted the help of friends to create signs pleading with drivers to “slow down” to protect hedgehogs from danger.
The girls were keen to help so they created some eye-catching signs, and put them on a lamppost on Otley Road.

Chloe has pledged to take her activism further:
I am going to write to [North Yorkshire Council’s] highways department to ask them for a proper hedgehog sign on Otley Road. This is important because hedgehogs are endangered… they are losing their habitats and getting run over.
