Staff at a Harrogate high-street accessories shop face an uncertain future after the company entered administration today (August 13).
Claire’s has 306 stores in the UK and Ireland and employs 2,150 people. Three of those staff are based at the Harrogate store on Cambridge Street.
They said it was "business as usual" today when the Stray Ferret went in.
Claire's sells jewellery and accessories, and provides piercing services.
Administrators Interpath said in a statement it would contact all Claire’s employees with information about what the administration means for them.
Will Wright, its UK chief executive, said:
Claire’s has long been a popular brand across the UK, known not only for its trend-led accessories but also as the go-to destination for ear piercing.
Over the coming weeks, we will endeavour to continue to operate all stores as a going concern for as long as we can, while we assess options for the Company. This includes exploring the possibility of a sale which would secure a future for this well-loved brand.
Interpath's statement added:
All Claire’s stores across the UK and Ireland will remain operational. Customers can continue to shop in-store as usual. However, customers will no longer be able to place orders online via Claire’s UK and Ireland website.
Online orders placed and dispatched prior to the joint administrators’ appointment will be delivered as usual. The joint administrators will be unable to deliver orders placed online which have not yet shipped. Customers should not be charged for these orders, however, as payment is processed on dispatch.
Interpath added that refunds would not be available for any items bought prior to its appointment as administrators.
