A man has been arrested after a collision in Harrogate which left two people seriously injured.
Police vehicles blocked off a 90-metre stretch of the road from its junction with Lancaster Park Road to its junction with Newnham Terrace yesterday (June 28) at around 11.40am.
In a statement this afternoon, North Yorkshire Police said the collision involved a Yamaha motorcycle which collided with two female pedestrians.
The force said the women were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The rider of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old local man, was arrested at the scene. Officers said following questioning, he was released under investigation while enquiries continue.
A police statement said:
In support of the investigation, we are urging witnesses to come forward or motorists with relevant dashcam footage of the motorcycle who have not already been spoken to at the scene.
