A serious incident caused Knaresborough Road in Harrogate to be closed to traffic this afternoon (Saturday, June 28).
Police vehicles blocked off a 90-metre stretch of the road, from its junction with Lancaster Park Road to its junction with Newnham Terrace.
It is believed the incident – described by a police officer at the scene as a collision – happened around midday, near the junction with Newnham Street.
A bystander said there was at least one casualty.

Police at the scene. Officers blocked off the road at the junction with Lancaster Park Road.
In addition to the road closure, officers also diverted traffic away from Knaresborough Road at the Empress roundabout, and long tailbacks formed along Skipton Road and York Place, which was already busy due to Harrogate Food and Drink Festival being held this weekend on the Stray.
The Stray Ferret has asked North Yorkshire Police for further details of the incident.
