A memorial was set up after Bailey Chadwick's death.

A man has appeared in court following a fatal collision near Pateley Bridge.

Bailey Chadwick was struck by a vehicle on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Pateley and Glasshouses, in the early hours of Sunday, July 20, last year.

Joseph Stott, 25, denied three charges when he appeared at Harrogate Magistrates Court this afternoon (February 12).

He pleaded not guilty to drink-driving, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident.

He admitted one offence of driving without third party insurance.

The public gallery was full for today's hearing.

A two-day trial is set to start on May 28 this year, when Stott, who gave the court an address on Dairy Lane in Darley, is due to return to Harrogate Magistrates Court.

An interim hearing was also set for May 1.

Bailey is believed to have been walking from Pateley Bridge to Glasshouses on the night of the collision.

He died sometime between 1.44am and 3.10am, police said at the time.

North Yorkshire Police has previously issued a plea for the public not to speculate online in order to avoid prejudicing court proceedings.
