A man has been jailed for a string of offences in Harrogate.

Julian Drumm, 36, appeared at York Magistrates Court yesterday (May 19) for sentencing after previously admitting eight separate offences.

Of those offences, five were committed in Harrogate.

According to court documents, Drumm beat the same man twice on November 20 last year in Harrogate.

On the same day, also in Harrogate, Drumm racially harassed an unnamed victim by using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, likely to cause alarm or distress.

Drumm was bailed the following day and ordered to surrender to custody at Harrogate Police Station on February 13 this year.

He failed to do this and, in doing so, was charged with failing to surrender to police bail.

But Drumm, who is listed as being of no fixed address and of Waterside in Lancaster, committed a similar offence on April 10.

This time, he failed to turn up at Harrogate Magistrates Court having been required to do so when he was released on bail from York Magistrates Court on January 21.

Prior to the Harrogate offences, Drumm used threatening words or behaviour towards a named man in Lancaster on November 2 last year, intending to lead the man to believe violence would be used against him.

He assaulted a different man in Lancaster that same day, and then another man just two days later.

Drumm admitted all the offences during hearings in January, April and earlier this month.

He was jailed for a total of 18 weeks.
