Repairs are ongoing due to a barrier fault at Starbeck level crossing.
The Stray Ferret contacted Network Rail following reports of issues with the barriers this afternoon (March 26).
In a short statement, a Network Rail spokesperson said:
A fault with a barrier was reported at 2.25pm. Repairs are expected to be completed before 5.30pm. We’re sorry to any motorists whose journeys have been affected.
Network Rail did not disclose the cause of the barrier fault, but the issue will likely lead to some frustrated local drivers and businesses.
Starbeck postmaster Andrew Hart told the Stray Ferret:
"Buses are being diverted via Wetherby Road. Starbeck dead as is trade on Starbeck High Street. Royal Mail and courier collections from Starbeck Post Office are impossible".
We will provide any updates when they become available.
