Oaker Bank is divided about halfway along its length by Penny Pot roundabout, also known as the Jubilee roundabout.

Temporary rolling traffic lights will be in operation on Oaker Bank, west of Harrogate, next week when work resumes on the installation of Harrogate Spring Water’s new pipeline from Killinghall.

The work will re-start on Tuesday (January 20) and is scheduled to take nearly six weeks.

A spokesperson for Harrogate Spring Water said:

This phase of the project remains on track, with works restarting on 20th January and completion expected by 1st March, as planned.

There have been no significant challenges to date, either geological or logistical.

Oaker Bank stretches from the Curious Cow roundabout on the A59 Skipton Road to Oak Beck, via the Penny Pot Lane roundabout.

The Killinghall borehole is Harrogate Spring Water’s third. It already extracts water from a borehole at its Harlow Moor Road headquarters and from one just down the road, on the far side of Oak Beck.

Asked how closely the chemical composition of the water in the new borehole matches that of the water from the company’s original borehole on Harlow Moor Road, the spokesperson said:

As with all our sources, the water from the new borehole fully complies with UK spring water regulations and the mineral composition is clearly declared on our labels, consistent with our existing boreholes.

The Stray Ferret also asked when the Killinghall borehole was due to come online, but that question was not addressed in the spokesperson's response.
