Tesco’s new supermarkets in Harrogate and Ripon are both due to open before the end of this year, the company said today (October 30).
In an update as work continues on both sites, Tesco also revealed both locations will have in-store cafes.
Roadworks on Skipton Road in Harrogate to create a roundabout and access road are due to end on November 24.
The company did not, however, commit to firm opening dates. A spokesperson said: “We’ll update the local community once we have firm dates.”
The refurbishment of the Ripon Tesco at the Marshall Way Retail Park has been taking place since the company acquired the site from Booths, which ceased trading there on July 20.

Harrogate photographer Sam Booth was given exclusive access to the construction site in Harrogate.
Mr Booth, who took up photography up in 2001 and started using it as therapy following a serious brain injury in 2009, volunteers at Horticap, a Harrogate charity which provides adults with learning and other disabilities training in horticulture.
Horticap has designed the community garden which will be part of the Tesco development.
He said:
I really like how Tesco is already working with different groups in the community. It’s something I have a lot of experience of from previous jobs and it makes a big difference.
A lot of my photos are of flowers and nature so this was a bit of a challenge that I really enjoyed. I think seeing the progress of the store is really interesting and hope other people like the images I’ve captured.

Paul Raftery, the property project manager at Tesco who is leading the work onsite with contractors KPS Ltd, said:
We will play a big part in Harrogate through our community programmes, Stronger Starts, Holiday Helps and Community Food Connection. Our recruitment centre is based at Harrogate College so the vast majority of the 130 jobs we’re creating will be local people so we want them to take pride in the store and supporting the wider community.
