One of Harrogate’s best known pet supplies businesses has been put up for sale, as its owner looks to spend more time with his family.
Jon Bradley opened HG Pets, on Cold Bath Road, four years ago with the aim of building a successful business.
When the Stray Ferret spoke to him for a Business Q&A last year, Mr Bradley told us that he planned to grow the business, and “if the right opportunity comes along”, either move to a bigger unit or acquire another retail unit in a different town.
But now he’s had a change of plan and has decided to put up the ‘closed’ sign for the last time.
He said:
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed building up this business, but the best bit has been the people and the animals.
We’re lucky in Harrogate, because we’ve got a great community that love their animals. The pet industry is very friendly too, so I’ve had lovely customers and lovely suppliers. It’s a great business to work in.
HG Pets, which turns over £260,000 a year, is for sale with a price tag of £85,000.
Mr Bradley said he that the online listing for the business, which is for sale with Ernest Wilson, went live on Friday and he has already had interest from prospective buyers.
As for the future, he says wants to spend more time with his daughter and is still reviewing his business options.
