Police are investigating a report of a man being bitten by a dog in Sandy Bank Wood at Pannal.

The incident, which happened on the morning of Thursday, March 12, involved a dog which may have been a Hungarian vizsla or a similar-looking breed.

The man with the dog is described as a white male, aged 30-40, slim build and about 5’10” to 6’ 1”. He was wearing dark trousers, green wellington boots and a green waxed jacket and hat, and he had a second dog with him on a lead.

The man who was allegedly bitten was working for Yorkshire Water. As previously reported, the company is currently building a temporary road through Sandy Bank Wood.

North Yorkshire Police are eager to identify the dog owner, and ask that anyone with knowledge of his identity should make contact.

They can email Ben.Robinson-Brockhill@northyorkshire.police.uk or call 101 and ask for PC Ben Robinson-Brockhill.

Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The reference number 12260044872 should be quoted when providing details.
