A landmark Harrogate pub that has stood empty for 11 months is to reopen tomorrow (Friday) under new management.
The Shepherd’s Dog on Harlow Hill has long been a much-valued community pub, but closed its doors last June when landlord Mike Schofield stepped away from the business to concentrate on his work as North Yorkshire councillor for the Harlow and St George’s division.
But now, a new landlord has stepped into the breach and will reopen the Shepherd's Dog tomorrow at noon.
In a Facebook post, the new management promises premium pub food, “famous” Sunday roasts, a family-friendly atmosphere, live sport on multiple screens, entertainment nights, coffee and cakes, and a “refreshed” beer garden.

The Shepherd's Dog in 2015, when it was called the Harlow Inn.
The Shepherd's Dog has been a pub since it was built, but its name has change several times. It was built as the Harlow Inn, and that name is still visible, carved in stone on its frontage. But at some point, its name was changed to the Shepherd's Dog, then it reverted to the Harlow Inn, and then was re-renamed the Shepherd's Dog about 10 years ago.
The Stray Ferret has contacted the new management for more information.
