This week, the Stray Ferret revealed that North Yorkshire Council has drawn up options for a potential park and ride in Harrogate. Here is what our readers thought of the idea.
Maybe the council should concentrate on what can be done as opposed to schemes that are totally unaffordable.

Mr Skaith is right. The real challenge is not to put the buses in the gridlock of the existing traffic. If folk are to transfer out of their cars to a bus they need to know it’s going to be quicker overall. So bus lanes will be needed and we know the debate there’s been over only a few metres of these at the Gateway. Until that mindset changes this isn’t going to work.

So it’s that time of the decade to revive discussion of park and ride all over again. Ultimately, as before, nothing will happen though.

The Stray Ferret reported this week that Tom Gordon, Liberal Democrat MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, handed a petition into Parliament calling on the government to abolish the House of Lords. Our readers had their say on the news.
The House of Lords has a wealth of knowledge that no elected politician could ever have. It’s not the place for elected politicians to put their points of view. It would be good if we didn’t have the type of government we have now. Anti-democratic, abolishing all the things that make our democracy work. Who would scrutinise the bills that came from the Commons if they were from the same party. I think Tom Gordon needs to think about the outcome of his ill thought bill.

I agree with Graham Dixon - have an elected second chamber.
