A flowerbed in the Valley Gardens in Harrogate has been planted to a design by a seven-year-old schoolgirl.
Tabitha Dalglish, a pupil at St Peter's CE Primary School in Harrogate, created the winning design in the 2024 Harrogate in Bloom Children's Art Competition, whose theme was 'Peace'.
Tabitha was joined by her family, council gardeners, the headteacher and pupils from St Peter’s School to see the design all planted up in a bed near the main entrance of the Valley Gardens.
Tabitha will also meet the RHS Britain in Bloom judges to showcase her design when they come to the town to judge Harrogate in Bloom on Monday, August 11.
The design for the Valley Gardens flowerbed is always chosen the year before it is planted. This year, the theme of the Harrogate in Bloom Children's Art Competition is '250 years of the USA' and the winning design will be planted next year to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America on July 4, 1776.
