Harrogate Ladies’ College has put one of its boarding houses up for sale.
Tower House on York Road is a large, detached Victorian building on the Duchy estate – one of Harrogate’s most exclusive areas.
The property, which used to house lower sixth-form boarders, has 35 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms and is described by the two agents handling its sale – Lister Haigh and Jackson-Stops – as a “superb development opportunity”.
As well as 15,000 square feet of accommodation over four floors, it has its own grounds and is close to the Valley Gardens and the town centre.
The property has been listed for sale for offers over £1.75 million.
The school’s principal, Joanna Fox, said:
Having consolidated our boarding houses earlier this year, we have now put our spare boarding house on York Road on the market.
Part of the proceeds of the sale will fund investment in new facilities such as the new Sixth Form Centre and enhanced co-ed boarding facilities, as well as developing the curriculum offer across the whole school.
The property was first listed on Rightmove yesterday (June 12) – just a day after the school announced it would extend its co-educational provision into its senior school from September 2026 and change its name to Duchy College.
