A Studley Royal Cricket Club graduate has signed a two-year contract extension with Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
Finlay Bean put pen to paper on a deal with the White Rose county yesterday (March 5) to keep him at the club until 2028.
The 23-year-old made his first-team debut in 2022 and has scored 2,422 first-class runs in 43 first-class matches for Yorkshire.
The Harrogate-born batsman has scored six centuries, the highlight of which was an impressive 224 against Nottinghamshire last year.
Bean has also impressed in different formats, hitting 102 not out off 57 balls in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Scarborough in August.
The former Ripon Grammar School pupil broke the record for Yorkshire’s fastest ever List A century.
The left-handed batsman has formed a strong opening partnership with Adam Lyth. The pair have put on at least 50 runs for the first wicket 27 times.
Bean said:
I’m delighted to be signing this new deal. My journey into professional cricket hasn’t always been straightforward, but the belief shown in me by Yorkshire and the coaches has played a huge role in helping me reach this point.
Whilst last year didn’t always go to plan, it taught me a great deal. I’ve had the chance to focus on key areas in Australia over the winter, which has proved incredibly valuable and will stand me in good stead for the future.
The next couple of years are exciting – not just for me personally but for the team as a whole. We’re clear on what we want to achieve together, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how far this group can go.
General manager Gavin Hamilton added:
Fin has firmly established himself as a proven performer at this level and has fully repaid our faith in him over the last couple of seasons. We’re absolutely delighted that he has committed his future to Yorkshire as we move into the next phase of the team’s development.
He is a fantastic character to have in the dressing room and consistently drives high standards throughout the group.
