While most of England has been plunged into Ashes cricket misery this week, a woman from Harrogate has special reason to celebrate the result.

Australia beat England by 82 runs in Adelaide yesterday (December) to take an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match Test series.

The Australian team was led by fast bowler Pat Cummins, whose wife is Harrogate-born interior designer Becky Cummins.

The couple met in Sydney in 2013, got engaged in 2020 and married in 2022.

Ms Cummins, née Boston, frequently shares photos of the couple and their two children with her 110,000 Instagram followers

After Australia sealed the Ashes, she posted a series of joyful family photos at the ground alongside the words: “We did it! Couldn’t be prouder of you or happier for you.”

Husband Pat, who has 3.1 million Instagram followers, replied with three love hearts.

Speaking about their romance, he once told Australian newspaper The Age: “The first couple of times I met Becky, I told her I was a uni student because, technically, I was. I left out the cricket part. Then one day, a few weeks after we started dating, she walked past a KFC in the city, and on the front was me wearing a bucket hat.”

Cummins, 32, has taken 315 Test wickets and is regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time.

However, he sustained an injury and is unlikely to feature in the fourth Test, which starts in Melbourne on Boxing Day.
