A second collision in the space of a week happened on the A61 Ripon Road in Killinghall yesterday (May 7).
The Stray Ferret reported this week that a cyclist had to be taken to hospital on Friday last week after he was struck by a car while turning onto Ripon Road from Otley Road in the middle of the village.
The incident, the latest in a series at the notorious junction, renewed calls for action to improve safety and heightened concerns that a spate of current planning applications, which could increase Killinghall’s population by 1,000, will add to the pressure on roads.
Six days later, another collision occurred about half a kilometre away at the entrance of Daleside nursery, where a 4x4 ended up on the bonnet of a smaller car.
The crash led to traffic backing up along the A61.
It is not known if anyone was injured.
North Yorkshire Police, which has a policy of not releasing information about incidents to the public unless it issues an appeal, declined to provide any details.
