Work has begun to construct a nursery on the site of a Harrogate primary school.
Coppice Valley Primary School submitted plans to build a 16.5 square metre extension on its grounds in August.
The project involves transforming the former caretaker’s bungalow into a purpose-built nursery space.
The nursery, named Little Ferns at Coppice Valley, will be used for up to 26 children aged three and four.
It will take pupils in September, January and Easter each year.
Headteacher Hannah McNamara said:
We are so excited to see our vision for Little Ferns take shape. Creating this space means children can join our school community even earlier, in a warm and welcoming environment where they can thrive from the very start.
Samantha Shuttleworth, estates director at Red Kite Learning Trust, said:
This development demonstrates our commitment to investing in excellent facilities for our schools. The new Little Ferns nursery will provide a fantastic start for the youngest learners in our community.
Further details about opening hours and wraparound care will be shared in the coming months.
