See the first signs of spring

Now that the weather is turning slightly warmer and the longer daylight hours are here, it’s time to dust off those walking boots and get out into the great outdoors.

One of the signs that spring is well and truly on its way is when spring plants such as snowdrops, daffodils, crocuses and bluebells come out to bloom.

Mother and daughter make-up masterclass

Ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday, March 30, make-up artist Adela Bortes is holding a masterclass for mothers and daughters.

She will be hosting a live make-up demonstration, sharing expert tips on how to create a flawless and effortless look.

Guests will have the chance to receive personalised one-on-one advice. Simply bring along a product from your own make-up bag that you struggle to use, and Adela will guide you on how to make it work for you.

The night will be filled with interactive beauty activities, including a Design Your Dream Makeup Look challenge, where you’ll get creative and put your beauty vision to paper.

Enjoy a pint or two at Harrogate Beer Festival

The annual Harrogate Beer Festival is taking place this Friday evening and all day and night on Saturday.

There will be more than 40 cask ales, 10 kegged beers, and an array of ciders, wine, Prosecco and gin, all the while enjoying a mixture of entertainment including the excitement of the Six Nations rugby, performances by local bands, and sets by renowned DJ Mark Green.

Learn about the history of Nidderdale

Nidderdale Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

The exhibits are set out across 11 rooms and focus on rural life, with sections on agriculture, local industries, religion, transport and costume. There are displays that include re-creations of a Victorian schoolroom, a cobbler’s workshop, a 1930s hairdresser’s salon and a shop among others.

As part of the celebration, the museum is participating in the National Lottery Open Days event. On Saturday and Sunday, it will be open from 1.30pm-4.30pm and customers can get two entries for the price of one for participants in the National Lottery Open Week (the offer is redeemable by anyone with a National Lottery ticket).

Under 16s free, £5 per ticket for adults (but as above, 2 for 1 entry for those with a National Lottery ticket), 1.30pm-4.30pm, March 15 and 16, Nidderdale Museum, The Old Workhouse, King Street, Pateley Bridge, Harrogate, HG3 5LE.

A show for all the senses

Kids and grown-ups will love Top Secret: The Magic of Science show this Saturday.

Recommended for all ages, there will be many ‘how did they do that moments’ with this non-stop, action-packed interactive magical science show that will capture the imagination and raise the question: is it magic, or is it science?

Expect mystery, suspense and lots and lots of mess.
