Go ghost hunting in Ripon

Ever wondered what it’s like to be in the eerie Workhouse Museum at midnight? You could find out this weekend Ripon, as Simply Ghost Nights hosts a ghost-hunting event.

Participants will be able to explore the creepy corridors and dark cells of the museum, which in its former life as a workhouse housed people who could not afford to look after themselves. The event also takes place in the nearby Prison and Police Museum, which was once known as the House of Correction and had up to 18 prisoners in its 18 cells.

Tickets £45, 9pm-1.45am, Sunday, May 2, The Workhouse Museum, Allhallowgate, Ripon, HG4 1LE.

Enjoy live music in Harrogate

Yorkshire band Hyde Family Jam return to Rooster's in Harrogate for a bank-holiday booze-up on Sunday.

The band, which started out busking in 2017 and has since appeared at festivals and in two Netflix movies, promises “a unique fusion of irreverent covers, folk instruments, and punk energy playing pop bangers”.

Tickets £15.75, from 7pm, Sunday, May 3, Rooster's Brewery Taproom, Unit H5, Fifth Avenue, Hornbeam Park Avenue, Harrogate, HG2 8QT.
