Last weekend saw the arrival of the most extreme winter conditions seen since the Beast from the East in 2018.
Deep snow followed by a week-long deep freeze hitting a nighttime low of -12 degrees C have transformed the landscape of many streets.
Here, we take a look at how the week unfolded.
The snow started to fall late on Saturday night and carried on through the night and Sunday morning. North Yorkshire Council webcams told the story vividly – in black and white.

But it also caused disruption, as bus services were suspended, trains delayed, and flights cancelled.

Other routes were treated too over the following days.

But plenty of increasingly slippery ice remains, especially on the pavements.

And in the meantime, some stunning views remain.
