A main road between Staveley and Minskip has closed for a month.

According to North Yorkshire Council's roadworks map, Minskip Road and Thorndikes Lane, which feed into each other and connect the villages near Knaresborough and Boroughbridge, will be closed until 11.59pm on June 12.

The council sought an emergency closure, which took effect yesterday (May 12), as it carries out repairs to a collapsed culvert.

Boroughbridge Town Council took to social media to inform residents. It said:

North Yorkshire Council have informed us that the road is closed after works to desilt and repair a culvert identified other sections that are unsafe.

Therefore, North Yorkshire Council plan to close the road until a full repair can be completed. A fully signed diversion is now in place.
