A man has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment following a police incident in Knaresborough.
In a statement this morning, North Yorkshire Police said it was dealing with an incident on Marbled White Place and urged the public to stay away.
Officers issued an update at 3.05pm this afternoon in which they said they were called to a property on the street after 8am.
Police said the incident involved a stand-off lasting several hours after a man refused to leave or allow a woman to leave the property.
A force statement added:
Following negotiations, the man who is in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and has been taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains under close police supervision.
Officers are emphasising that the incident has now concluded and is being treated as isolated. There has been a police presence in the area to deal with the incident and Neighbourhood Policing Team officers will be on patrol to provide continued support to the local community this evening.
