We would like to thank Raworths for supporting the 2025 Stray Ferret Christmas Appeal for Henshaws. Because of Raworths support all of the money raised has gone directly to the charity.

The Stray Ferret Christmas Appeal has now closed - 77 donations raised a total of £2,330 for Henshaws in Knaresborough.

Every week, Henshaws transforms lives through creativity; offering people with disabilities and visual impairments new skills and building confidence through art. From painting and pottery to woodwork and textiles, every creation tells a story of courage, independence and pride.

Sadly though, the charity isn't able to support everyone who needs it and there is a waiting list .

Our Christmas Appeal was to help Henshaws' ambitious plans to build two new art studios in its gardens so it can support more future art-makers.

Flora Simpson, philanthropy manager at Henshaws said:

We want to say a huge thank you to the Stray Ferret, Raworths, and to every single person who generously donated to our Christmas appeal.

Your support is helping us keep our workshops thriving, while bringing us closer to creating two new workshop spaces that will transform the lives of those who rely on them most.

Because of you, we can continue to provide a creative, safe and welcoming environment for people living with disabilities, a place where individuals feel valued, understood and truly at home.

On behalf of everyone at Henshaws, thank you for believing in what we do.

Stray Ferret founder, Tamsin O'Brien said:

Anyone who visits Henshaws arts and craft centre in Knaresborough and has a cup of tea in its café, will get a sense of how important the art studios are to the people who use them and to their families.

Everyone who donated to our Christmas Appeal will have played a part in helping Henshaws build new facilities and increase the number of people it will be able to support.

Whilst we did not hit our target we know these are tough times and every donation helps.  I feel it is important that the Stray Ferret highlights the work of local charities and we do our best to support them. We know every charity is finding fundraising very hard at this time.

I would like to thank the team at Henshaws and to Raworths Solicitors in Harrogate - who made it possible.

We will cover the opening of the new studios when they are built

To everyone who donated -  thank you.
