Two Brothers has announced it is to close its grill and pizzeria in Knaresborough's Castle Courtyard after seven years.
The company said the “very difficult and emotional decision” was due to reasons beyond its control and it will serve its final customers on Sunday (January 12).
Its takeaway in Knaresborough will continue.
In a post on social media, attributed to ‘Vivien and the team’, Two Brothers said:
Despite our best efforts and lots of financial investments we have failed to overcome the challenges caused by the expenses of running a restaurant nowadays. I am completely heartbroken.”
Restaurant work is not easy. It takes commitment, thick skin, and a really good sense of humour.
There are no words that clearly express the love we feel for our staff that worked so hard to keep the vision alive. It is so rare to find such a committed, hardworking, talented, and friendly staff anywhere.
The post added gift vouchers can still be used at its takeaway on Chain Lane.
The news prompted a huge wave of symptahy for the business, with comments on social media including "it is such a huge loss to the community" and "the food has always been amazing".
