It was another busy week for the lifestyle team, producing an eclectic range of articles that cover all the stories from individuals, charities and businesses across the Harrogate district.
Last week, we spoke to Jacqui Morrell, who runs Hedgehog Appreciation Prickly Pals Yorkshire – otherwise known as HAPPY – with her husband Peter, from their home in Nidderdale.
Next month is the hedgehog’s rescue centre’s 10 year anniversary, and Jacqui shared how the couple came to set up their ‘hogs-pital’, as well as some advice for keeping wildlife safe during Halloween and Bonfire Night.
We also revisited one of the late Malcolm Neesam’s articles, first written in 2021. The Stray Ferret was lucky enough to work with Malcolm to produce a range of original content charting Harrogate and the district’s history – this time, the spotlight was turned on Harrogate’s first gas-powered buses.
Now many of us will be familiar with rhubarb in crumble, but did you know it’s also a great addition to curry? Our food writer Yemi shared her inventive ways to bridge the seasons with some rhubarb-related dishes – both sweet and savoury.
There's a lot of unmissable content coming up over the rest of the week - you'll want to catch our interview with William Hanson, British etiquette coach, Sunday Times bestselling author, and co-host of hit podcast Help I Sexted My Boss, ahead of his appearance at the Harrogate Literary Festival.
Last Friday, we travelled to Burley-in-Wharfedale to speak to 400 Roses and T’Thorns, a Yorkshire dance troupe that combine tribal belly dancing and folk music, for a weekend feature.
Our regular history column will be returning this weekend too; this time, we’re delving into the stories that have shaped St Robert’s Cave, in Knaresborough.
Finally, by subscribing to the Stray Ferret, readers can enjoy a range of fantastic exclusive offers, discounts and giveaways from local businesses, which we regularly update.
This week we’re encouraging our subscribers to take advantage of some much-needed self-care treatments, from Heal Therapies, in Harrogate. Enjoy £15 off restorative reflexology and £15 off a back, neck and shoulder massage when you sign up today.
Are you a lifestyle lover, or do you prefer to stay up to date on quality local news in the district? The Stray Ferret covers all daily news, features, investigations, what’s on and so much more. Get started with a subscription today.
