Sheep saved by farmer after getting trapped in Thruscross bog
A sheep got trapped in a bog on Sunday (August 2), eventually getting rescued by a local farmer.
A member of Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association was on a walk through Thruscross at around 2pm when they came across the sheep.
After being unable to rescue it themselves, they called their team to come and help out.
However, while the volunteers made their way to the scene, a farmer managed to dig the sheep out.
Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association is a volunteer organisation that helps people – and animals – who find themselves in difficulty across the local countryside.
It was the second local incident it has attended in recent days.
Last weekend (Saturday July 26), the association was called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to help them assist at an incident at Nidd Gorge.
A man had been enjoying a countryside walk when he was knocked over by an ‘over-enthusiastic’ puppy and fractured his ankle, its incident report said.
The volunteers helped the paramedics provide emergency care before carrying him on a stretcher to the ambulance.
