Two events are running this weekend in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice.
The first, on Friday, is a ‘Strutting for Saint Michael’s’ fashion show featuring clothes from local businesses and pre-loved items from the charity’s shops. The models will be women from the local community, and organisers are hoping to raise £6,000 for the charity.
And on Saturday, the Midnight Glow Walk makes a welcome return after a nine-year break.
Join an expected 1,000 people in the evening to follow a 10km route around Harrogate. Participants are encouraged to take their time and soak up the atmosphere at the non-competitive event.

Harrogate Theatre’s annual Comedy Festival kicks off this weekend, bringing some of the biggest names and hottest new talent to the town.
Among those performing at the festival, which runs until October 28, are famous comedians Jimmy Carr, Andy Parsons, Al Murray, Lucy Beaumont and Harrogate’s very own Maisie Adam.
There’ll also be a couple of funny faces from the past, with shows from Jimmy Tarbuck and Hi-de-Hi!’s Su Pollard.
Younger comedy fans should also check out the Comedy Club 4 Kids.

Pateley Show traditionally marks the end of summer’s local agricultural events and is also one of the biggest, with around 15,000 visitors.
Expect a family-friendly celebration of agricultural traditions with a range of classes in everything from show jumping and dry stone walling to home produce and walking sticks.
There’ll be live music from the Summerbridge and Dacre Silver Band, as well as a cricket match between teams form Nidderdale and Craven.

Now in its seventh year, the Ripon Poetry Festival has become the largest in Yorkshire. Last year’s event saw sell-out performances and this year once again promises delights for poetry lovers of all ages.
The festival will feature readings, workshops for children and adults, an open mic evening and book launches by local poets.
Highlights will include well-known performance poets Kate Fox and Adisa the Verbaliser.
An anthology featuring the best poems from this year’s competition, which closed for entries in July, will also be launched during the event.

Take a walk around Grassington’s cobbled streets and step back in time for its popular annual 1940s weekend.
The two-day event features free live performances of music from the era, while the village will be packed with vintage vehicles, market stalls and people dressed in period clothing.
Ticketed events include music evenings and a tea dance.
