An event was held at Ripon Town Hall to mark National Family Caregivers Month.
The Caregiver Action Network has organised the month annually since 1994 to raise awareness of the contribution of people who care for others in their families.
Ripon city councillor Julieann Martin-Long put on the town hall event to bring together carers and provide information.
She said carers were unsung community heroes, adding:
“It is important to celebrate family care givers of all ages. They often feel undervalued and affected by care giving poverty. Enabling access to help and appropriate support, funding and respite services is invaluable.
“I hope to run more events like this in the future, ensuring we all have the tools to make informed choices about our health and care and wellbeing if and when we need it.”
Representatives attended from Uredale Community Partnership, Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, Dementia Forward, Rainbow Care Group, Morrisons Community Pharmacy, Abbeyfield House, Shield Health and Social Care, Andy’s Man Club and Alderman TF Spence Committee.
The event, on Saturday (November 29), was one of man events organised nationally throughout November to celebrate family carers.
