An investigation is being carried out after firefighters were called to a blaze at a home in Ripon last night (February 18) that left one person hospitalised.
Two crews from Ripon and one crew from Masham responded to a report of a fire at a property on Kirkby Road at 10.40pm.
According to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report, the firefighters deployed three hose pipes, thermal imaging cameras and lighting to tackle the fire.
The incident report concluded:
“The cause is to be investigated by fire investigation officers.”
Masham Fire Station later posted on social media that one person was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation following "a well developed flat fire".
It urged people to contact their local fire station for a free home risk assessment on smoke alarms.
In response to a request from the Stray Ferret for more information about tue incident, including the extent of damage, a North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson replied:
Fire investigation officers are at the scene today to determine the cause of the fire. The fire was confined to one flat which sustained substantial fire damage, one person from the flat attended hospital for checks. Smoke affected two other flats in the building.
