Major route near Ripon closed after collision leads to oil spill
A major road near Ripon is closed following a collision this morning (May 1).
North Yorkshire Police today said the A61 between Bishop Monkton and the Quarry Moor roundabout is shut. It comes after a collision occurred at Daffodil Bends at 6.30am, which led to oil spilling across the carriageway.
The road will need to be cleaned before it can reopen, police said, adding motorists are advised to avoid the area.
