Plans have been submitted to turn a former office into a five-bed dwelling on Ripon’s Kirkgate.
The space above The Yorkshire Tea Room was previously used as office space but has been empty for the last year.
Planning documents put forward by Untitled Properties Ltd show that the space would be transformed into a 5-bed townhouse across the upper two floors and the loft.
The building is Grade 2 listed and would not be modified externally.
The design access statement, written by Planning and Design Associates, says:
This will enable the building to be used as a large, five bedroomed family house that promotes community integration, reduced commuting and sustainable development. Alongside continuing to benefit the street scene and historic nature of Ripon city centre.
The site also includes a courtyard at the back with three car parking spaces for the townhouse.
North Yorkshire Council will make a decision on the proposal at a later date.
