A former fish and chip shop in Knaresborough could be set for a makeover.
Plans to renovate the former Aragon Fisheries site, on Iles Lanes, were put to North Yorkshire Council last week.
The ground floor was used to operate the takeaway, which plans say closed in 2022, while the first and second floors form a duplex apartment.
A planning document says the scheme is intended to rebuild and extend “poor quality ground floor extensions” and renovate the whole site using materials to “match and enhance the original building”.
The application seeks approval for a change of use which, if approved, would see the ground floor converted into a commercial or office space.
It does not state what the commercial use will be or what kind of business is set to take on the space.
Planning documents describe the building as “falling into disrepair”, as the applicant also proposals to demolish and rebuild an adjoining single-storey side extension and a rear extension.
The extensions will be made using “rustic brick”, the application says.
Two of the existing six garages to the rear of the property are planned to be demolished to form car parking spaces.
According to a proposed site layout, the existing duplex apartment looks to be retained for residential use.
There would be an open-plan dining room, sitting room and kitchen area on the first floor, while the second floor would include one bedroom, a storeroom, a dressing room, an office and a bathroom.
The existing dormers on the second floor would also be replaced, should plans be approved.
The council will make a decision on the application at a later date.
