A man has been arrested after a "spate of indecent exposure incidents in Ripon", police have said.
North Yorkshire Police issued a CCTV appeal earlier this evening (May 14) following the alleged incidents. However, in an update, the force said officers have now arrested a man in his 70s.
The statement said:
"Earlier this evening (Thursday 14 May 2026), we issued a CCTV appeal in connection with a series of indecent exposure incidents in the Ripon area.
"Following information received in response to that appeal, officers have this evening arrested a man in his 70s."
Police have also urged the public not to speculate or discuss details online:
We would like to thank everyone who shared the appeal and provided information to assist our enquiries.
We understand people’s concern following our earlier appeal; however, we ask the public not to speculate or discuss details on social media, as this could interfere with our ongoing investigation
We have amended our coverage following the update.
