Part of Bondgate in Ripon will be closed for five days from Monday (September 8) to enable Northern Powergrid to carry out essential works at its riverside substation.
The closure, which has been approved by North Yorkshire Council, includes the section of road that crosses the River Skell at Iron Bridge.
During the closure motorists will need to use alternative routes and allow extra time for longer journeys.
Essential maintenance work will be carried out at the Northern Powergrid substation during the road closure.
A spokesperson for Northern Powergrid, which provides and maintains electricity supplies for homes and businesses in the city, across Yorkshire and the north east, told the Stray Ferret:
The road will be closed from Monday September 8 to Friday September 12 to enable essential national infrastructure maintenance at the nearby substation.
The road is to be closed due to its narrow width and the size of vehicles needed to carry out the essential maintenance.
