Raworths is proud to support the Stray Ferret Christmas Appeal 2025 for the fantastic work of Henshaws. All money raised goes directly to this charity.

Today we launch our Stray Ferret Christmas Appeal to raise £5,000 towards two new creative studios at Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre in Knaresborough.

Please donate whatever you can to help give the gift of creativity to local people with sight loss and other disabilities.

Why we're supporting Henshaws

At Henshaws, Christmas is an extra special time for creativity. Visit at this time of year and you’ll find it busier than Santa’s workshop. There’s a vibrancy, a sense of joy and purpose, as students paint, make, weave, stick and create a sparkling range of festive gifts and decorations.

But the charity is running out of space. Its art studios are bursting at the seams and there’s a waiting list of people longing to join.

What you can do

From now until Christmas, the Stray Ferret is asking everyone to join us in helping raise £5,000 towards two new creative workshops at Henshaws.

With these new spaces, the charity will be able to help more people discover the joy of creativity. Up to 200 additional sessions will be possible every week, from mosaics and textiles to ceramics and painting.

WATCH what our Christmas Appeal means to Henshaws' students

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of our appeal by Raworths Solicitors in Harrogate, all donations will go directly to the new workshops.

Creativity at Henshaws is about so much more than making Christmas extra special. It’s a lifeline every day of the year, offering adults with sight loss and other disabilities the opportunity to express themselves, grow in confidence and build friendships.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be bringing you stories that highlight how the creative opportunities at Henshaws enrich and transform people’s lives. Please read and share our stories, and donate whatever you can.

Give the gift of creativity for Christmas and beyond

By supporting the Stray Ferret Christmas Appeal, you’ll be giving something that lasts far beyond the festive season: the gift of creativity.

You’ll be helping people like Ellen, who has found inspiration and social connection since joining Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre recently. She told us:

Henshaws art-maker Ellen.

I find it difficult to read and write, and I also have problems with loud spaces. Speaking is OK, but I think sometimes people can’t understand me.

At Henshaws I like meeting new people and making new friends. My favourite thing to do here is making artwork. Henshaws is amazing.

How to donate

By supporting our Christmas Appeal, you’ll be helping local people with disabilities find joy, purpose and friendship through art.

Please contribute whatever you can. Thank you.
