Enjoy a fun day out

The kids break up for the Easter holidays this week, so make the most of the two week break with a memory-making day out.

From abseiling down a gorge to visiting a farm - there may even be chicks hatching - seeing a show at the theatre to learning all about aircraft, there's plenty of inspiration in our Seven Easter activities in Yorkshire to keep the whole family entertained article.

Get out and about with this walk-and-talk group

Join the Living Room Club for a leisurely walk through Knaresborough's scenic streets this Saturday, an event that it holds every week.

Whether you're an avid walker or just looking for a casual stroll, the important thing is to enjoy the fresh air and good company. Great views, great conversations, and a great time await.

Free, 11.30am-12.30pm, April 5, York House, 9 York Place, Knaresborough, HG5 0AD.

See the sights of Ripon

This Easter holiday, view the historic sights of Ripon like you’ve never seen them before in its Big Sky Wheel that will be in the Market Square from April 5-27.

Gather friends and family to experience the panoramic views from the 35-metre-high observation wheel, where you can see the town centre and beyond. And there’s no need to book – simply turn up on the day.

The initiative by Ripon BID and North Yorkshire Council is to encourage locals and visitors to spend more time in the city centre. Read more here.

£5 for those under 1.4m and £7 for those over, open daily, 11am-7pm, April 5-27, Ripon Market Square, Market Place, Ripon, HG4 1BW.

Forage and feast on this course

Have you ever thought about the wild ingredients that can or can’t be eaten?

Then head up to the market town of Richmond and learn how to forage safely and with confidence on this five-hour course, which includes ID work, tasting wild ingredients followed by a wild-inspired feast at The Station, Richmond.

£55 per person for under 18s, £75 per adult, 10am-3pm, April 6, The Station, Station Yard, Richmond, DL10 4LD

Go to Springtime Live

Springtime Live is back this year and is taking place on Saturday.

The annual family-friendly event is hosted by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, and features farm animals, demonstrations and workshops.

The Super Spaniel Shows are back by popular demand, hosted by internet sensation and TV star Chloé Fuller (above). Chloé’s Super Spaniel Shows tell the story of 24 hours in the life of an assistance dog and will be performed twice during the event.

There will also be tractor trailer rides, ride-on mini Rovers, dry stone walling, vintage tractors and crafts stations where children are invited to use natural materials and make wizard wands, try willow weaving and felt making.

Free for under twos and carers of disabled visitors, tickets cost £13 for adults and £8 for children, or a family ticket (two adults and two children) for £37. From 9.30am-4pm, April 5, Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, HG2 8NZ.
