The Water Rat in Ripon is to shut for a two-week refurbishment at the end of October.
The pub, which overlooks the River Skell, announced on Facebook it expects to be shut between Monday, October 21 and Wednesday, November 6 to allow work to take place to replace the roof and refurbish the bar.
The Stray Ferret spoke to manager Hollie Pope about the refurbishment.
Ms Pope said that the waterside footpath alongside the pub and bridge will not be affected by the works and indicated that the re-opening date would be weather dependent.
Currently still serving its summer menu, the Water Rat will launch its autumn/winter menu alongside its December’s festive menu when it re-opens.
The bar itself is set to receive an extension to allow for the creation of a cocktail bar that will extend into the nook area to the left as you come in. The bar extension will also allow more room to stock a wider range of products.
