Two fire crews were called to a dyke at Leathley last night to rescue a cow.
Firefighters from Harrogate and Tadcaster responded to calls of a cow in a dyke at Castley Lane, alongside the River Wharfe, at 9.56pm last night.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report said:
Crews made an extrication plan and set up lighting. Lines, strops and animal rescue equipment used to turn and lift the cow safely onto land. The cow was uninjured and left with the owner.
Harrogate firefighters had earlier been summoned to Otley Road in the town at 5.29pm to help an older wheelchair patient that was unable to get into their home because the residential lift was out of order.
The incident report said: “Crews used crew power and lift straps to carry the patient up the stairwell and safely into their premises.”
