Three fire crews and a water bowser were called to Marton-cum-Grafton today (November 2) when fire broke out in an industrial building.
Firefighters from Knaresborough, Harrogate and Acomb were summoned to the village, near Boroughbridge, at 11.41am.
They were aided by the water bowser from Tadcaster.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report said:
“On arrival, a waste shredder inside an industrial unit was found to be well alight. The fire measured approximately 5 metres x five metres.
"Crews used two breathing apparatus, one 45mm jet and 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Crews then monitored the shredder for a further 30 minutes.”
