A fire at a derelict building in Harrogate this afternoon is believed to have been caused deliberately.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service today (July 10) told the Stray Ferret two fire crews were called to reports of a derelict building blaze on Skipton Road shortly after 1pm.
The service’s incident log adds embers caused the fire to spread to other timber structures at the site, which required two hose reel jets to control and extinguish.
Firefighters also used thermal imaging cameras to locate the fire hotspots, which were dampened down using the hose jets.
The fire damaged one building in its entirety.
The incident has been passed over to North Yorkshire Police, as the blaze is believed to have been started deliberately.
There are no reports of injuries.
The Stray Ferret has approached the police for comment.
