A Pannal man has been jailed for 14 days after breaching his post-custodial supervision requirements.

William Smythe appeared at York Magistrates Court yesterday (May 6).

Smythe is of no fixed abode but court documents listed his address as Pannal Green.

He admitted to failing without reasonable excuse to comply with the supervision requirements imposed following his release from a previous stint in prison.

According to court documents, Smythe was ordered to keep in touch with his supervisor after being released from custody. However, he failed to provide his probation officer with details of "where he was living or rough sleeping" as instructed.

This took place between March 14 and March 25, 2025.

The 22-year-old also failed to attend two post-sentence supervision order appointments on April 1 and April 8.

In addition, Smythe did not provide any acceptable evidence or explanation within five working days of the breaches.

The magistrates sentenced Smythe to two weeks’ imprisonment, as he has a “flagrant disregard for court orders”.
