North Yorkshire Police has issued a statement on social media ruling out two women from enquiries about a stolen bank card.
Last night, the force said that a female had reported the theft of her bank card after she accidentally left it in a chip-and-pin reader at a self-service checkout.
It also released CCTV images of two women caught on camera at the Squinting Cat pub on Whinney Lane in Harrogate.
In an update this morning, North Yorkshire Police added:
North Yorkshire Police would like to thank everyone who has contacted us providing information.
Both females in the images have now been identified, one has been eliminated from our enquiries at this time, and the post has now been removed from social media while the incident is resolved.
Anyone with any more information about the case should email Peter.Henderson@northyorkshire.police.uk or call 101 and ask for PC1668 Henderson. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The reference 12260003834 should be quoted when passing on information.
