A woman has been jailed after persistent thefts from shops in Harrogate.
Megan Fisher, 24, admitted stealing from Co-op stores in Pannal and on Leeds Road in Harrogate on November 14 last year.
Alison Whiteley, prosecuting, told Harrogate Magistrates Court on Thursday (February 12) that the combined value of the thefts was over £600.
Ms Whiteley said Fisher, who is currently serving a 16-week prison sentence for separate theft offences, stole £110 worth of coffee and chocolate from the Leeds Road store and £574 worth of health and beauty products from the Pannal store.
She told the court that the items stolen were of high value and that the crimes demonstrated “persistent offending”.
Fisher, who appeared via video link from HMP New Hall in Wakefield, opted to represent herself in court.
She said she had been “victimised” and “peer pressured” into committing the thefts.
Fisher added that she would “not do anymore crime” if she was released early from custody.
District Judge Mark Daley sentenced Fisher to four-weeks in prison on top of her current custodial sentence.
