The hearing will be held at Harrogate Civic Centre.

A document outlining details of the proposed 4,000-home Matlkiln development will be examined at a public hearing this September.

The Keep Green Hammerton Green campaign group shared a letter from North Yorkshire Council yesterday with details of the hearing.

It says the government has appointed inspector Clive Coyne to independently examine the plan, and issue a report with his conclusions.

As part of the process, public scrutiny hearings will be held at the Civic Centre on St Luke’s Avenue in Harrogate.

There will be daily hearings at 10am and 2pm from Tuesday, September 17, until Friday, September 20.

The letter adds hearings will also take place from September 24 until September 27 “if necessary”.

Caddick Group plans to build 4,000 mixed-tenure homes, two primary schools, a mixed-use local centre, a sports hub and healthcare facilities.

The Maltkiln development plan document was submitted to the government for examination on March 27.

The document, which sets out a 30-year vision for the settlement and a policy framework on how it will be developed, is separate to the planning application, which was updated to North Yorkshire Council last week.

The 107-page development plan document includes details of site boundaries, local transport infrastructure and details of how homes will be built to combat the effects of climate change.

The plans for Maltkiln.

Caddick Group's revised proposals followed a three-week consultation, which included a public event in Kirk Hammerton in May.

The Stray Ferret reported on some residents' reactions at the time.

Caddick's revised plans now include crossing points on the A59, improvements to the bridge over the railway line and better cycle access through the site.
