A primary school will open this afternoon but some residents are still without water due to a burst main in the Bilton area of Harrogate.
Yorkshire Water this morning (November 26) confirmed a water main has burst on Knox Avenue, which has left homes and businesses across Bilton with little-to-no water.
Bilton Grange Primary School, which is in the area affected, did not open as usual.
A spokesperson for the school told the Stray Ferret it had "no running water" this morning. However, in an update, the school said the water is now back on and it will open at midday.
The incident is still ongoing, according to Yorkshire Water's website, and properties across Bilton are still affected.
We asked Yorkshire Water when the water will come back on and if those impacted will be compensated. A spokesperson for the firm said:
We are currently working to repair a burst main on Knox Avenue, which is causing loss of supply or low water pressure in some nearby properties. We’re working as quickly as we can to complete the repair and restore normal supply, and in the meantime, will be delivering bottled water to impacted customers on our Priority Services Register. We’d like to apologise for the inconvenience and thank everyone in the area for their patience.
This is an ongoing incident and the Stray Ferret will provide updates when they become available.
